UV.‐, IR.‐ and NMR.‐spectra of the antibiotic granaticin and several of its derivatives and degradation products are discussed. The spectroscopic properties agree with the formula XX for the antibiotic, which was fully elucidated by an X‐ray structural analysis (see following communication).
