By irradiation in methanol at ∼250 nm of iminium salts, e.g. cyclohexylidene‐pyrrolidinium perchlorate ( 1 ), in the absence of oxygen and in the presence of benzophenone as sensitizer, good yields of methanol addition products to the C,N‐double bond ( e.g. 8 ) could be obtained. These can be classed as β‐amino‐alcohol derivatives.
