Acids, such as p ‐toluenesulfonic acid, mediate the direct formation of optically active (−)‐Δ 6,1 ‐3,4‐ trans ‐tetrahydrocannabinol from (+)‐ cis ‐or (+)‐ trans‐p ‐menthadiene‐(2,8)‐ol‐(1) and olivetol.
