Ni(CN) 2 ,2H 2 O is prepared as a powder of a very light violet color by slow addition of very dilute sulfuric acid to a boiling aqueous solution of K 2 [Ni(CN) 4 ], H 2 O. It has a cubic unit cell with a cell edge of 10.10 Å. The nickel ions form a cubic face‐centered lattice analogous to the structure of Prussian Blue.
