The analysis of measurements of the thermal diffusion factor α in the systems H 35 Cl/H 37 Cl, D 35 Cl/D 37 Cl and H 35 Cl/D 35 Cl shows that α may be approximated by the expressionα = C_m \frac{{m_1 − m_2 }}{{m_1 + m_2 }} + C_\theta \frac{{\theta _1 − \theta _2 }}{{\theta _1 + \theta _2 }}.
