The catalytic properties in H 2 O 2 decomposition of the Cu 2+ ‐chelates of 2‐ Acetyl‐3‐hydroxy‐thiophene (I) and 3‐Acetyl‐4‐hydroxy‐thiophene (II) have been investigated. Evidence is given that the catalytic activity of the chelates is a function of the respective bond orders of the α, β (I) and β, β′ (II) thiophene bonds of the chelate ring.
