The chloride of 3‐chloro‐1,2,4‐benzotriazine‐1‐oxide‐7‐carboxylic acid has been prepared, and from this a number of derivatives of 3‐hydroxy‐1,2,4‐benzotriazine‐1‐oxide‐7‐carboxylic acid were synthesized by stepwise substitution of the two halogen atoms. This acid chloride has further been used for linking dye components containing amino groups, and for the synthesis of reactive dyes whose suitability for dyeing cellulose and wool has been examined.
