The enthalpy changes involved in the metal complex formation with methyliminodiacetate‐ion have been determined, using a direct calorimetric method. The thermodynamic data obtained are used to calculate the chelate effect with the EDTA‐homologous ( − OOCCH 2 ) 2 = N(CH 2 ) n N = (CH 2 COO − ) 2 as ligand.
