Oxidation and reduction properties of iron(II) and iron(III) phthalocyaninetetrasulphonic‐acids are described. The reversible reaction of the iron(II) compound with molecular oxygen leads to a binuclear complex Fe II · O 2 · Fe II . At a neutral pH no oxidation to the iron(III) state occurs. The stability of the O 2 ‐complex has been determined.
