The epimeric 7α‐ and 7β‐hydroxy‐ trans ‐decahydroquinolines, 1 and 2 respectively, have been prepared from Δ 8,9 ‐octahydro‐7‐quinolone ( 5 ) and their configurations and conformations determined by chemical and NMR.‐spectral methods.
