Hexa‐ n ‐propylbenzene undergoes the same anomalous type of F RIEDEL ‐C RAFTS reactions as hexaethyl and hexamethyl benzene. Acid chlorides and dicarboxylic anhydrides produce under elimination of an alkyl group the corresponding penta‐ n ‐propyl‐phenyl ketones and penta‐ n ‐propyl‐benzoyl carboxylic acids respectively. Reaction of the carbamylchloride‐aluminiumchloride complex yields penta‐ n ‐propyl‐benzamide which has been hydrolysed to penta‐ n ‐propyl‐benzoic acid.
