The kinetics of diffusion of azulene and azulene‐ d 2 − (1,3) from the vapor phase into thin slabs (28–250 μ thickness) of copolyn, teflon und polyethylene has been studied photometrically at temperatures between 25° and 40°C. The diffusion process was found to be accompanied by a decay reaction of azulene. Values are given for the diffusion constant, the decay rate constant and the saturation concentration in copolyn and polyethylene, as well as thermodynamical standard data for the solution process of azulene in all the plastic materials mentioned. The order‐disorder properties of the solutions are briefly discussed.
