1,3,6,tetraazapyrene (I) forms a radical anion by alkali metal reduction in 1,Z‐dimethoxyethane as well as a radical cation in conc. sulphuric acid. The ESR hyperfine structures of the radical ions are very similar, and this similarity is discussed in terms of simple MO‐theory.
