An apparatus has been constructed which allows decomposition of acid‐soluble sulfides in HC1 and absorption of the generated H 2 S in an iodine solution of known content. All operations are carried out in one closed vessel, eliminating the necessity to use a carrier gas and gas transfer. The sulfur content of the sample is determined by backtitration of the I 2 solution with arsenite or thiosulfate solution.
