The products produced by γ‐rays in liquid toluene‐α‐d 3 are compared with those measured in toluene‐α‐d 0 . The overall polymer‐formation is hardly affected by the deuteration but the yield of the individual dimeric compounds is characterised by the fact that the formation of the benzyl radicals becomes about 40% of the value in protonated toluene. This results in a benzyl formation of 17%, a benzyl‐toluene formation of 400%, and an increased yield of all the bitolyls as compared with the values found for toluene‐α‐d 0 .
