A method for continuous preparation of XeF 4 is described. Several chemical properties of the substance are qualitatively studied. Among these a reaction with acetic acid or acetic anhydride leads to a crystalline compound, whereas the product formed between XeF 4 , and BF 3 , yields a violet solid, stable below −100°C.
