The reactions of methyldibromophosphine (CH 3 ‐PBr 2 ) with oxygen, ozone, sulfur, selenium, tellurium, primary and secondary amines, silver salts [AgX; X = CN, NCO, NCS], Grignard and silylmetallic compounds, alcohol and paraformaldehyde have been studied. The synthesis of CH a P(X)Br 2 [X = 0, S, Se] and CH 3 PR 2 [R = alkyl, aryl, SiR 3 , R 2 N, CN, NCO, NCS] is reported. The preparation of methyl‐bromomethyl‐phosphinic bromide, CH 3 (BrCH 2 )P(O)Br, and O‐ethylmethylphosphinate, CH 3 P(O)(OC 2 H 5 ) H, is also described.
