Mice were given acetazolamid orally or intravenously. Some of them were also given simultaneously insulin intraperitoneally. The synthesis of radioactive fatty acids was measured after injection of acetate‐[1‐ 14 C] or glucose‐U‐ 14 C. Administration of acetazolamid inhibits significantly the synthesis of fatty acids and hyperglycemia can be observed. The synthesis of palmitic acid is preferentially inhibited. Insulin injection suppresses this inhibition. These results are discussed in connection with a more specifical action on the non mitochondrial condensation system.
