The synthesis of racemic all‐trans ‐ζ 1 ‐ (I) and ‐ϵ‐tocopherol (II) is described. Comparison with the corresponding natural specimens proved the all‐trans ‐configuration of the side chain of ζ 1 ‐and ϵ‐tocopherol isolated from wheat bran.
