The tendency of Co II ‐chelates to form binuclear μ‐peroxo‐bridged complexes with O 2 has been investigated. The nature of the ligand strongly influences the stability of such complexes. Polyamin chelates obviously fovour the bonding to O 2 whereas chelates with aminopolycarboxylic acids do not show any measurable affinity for O 2 . The solution stability of (Dien)CoO 2 Co(Dien) 4+ has been determined by spectrophotometric methods.
