The preparation of complex salts {M(DMF) 6 (ClO 4 ) n } (M = Cr III , Fe III , Al III , Ga III , Mn II , Co II , Cu II , Zn II ) and {M(DMF) 4 (ClO 4 ) 2 } (M = Be II , Cu II )is described, which involves simple replacement of water by dimethylformamide (DMF). Spectral data are given for the transition metal complexes. They clearly show that the carbonyl oxygen atom functions as donor atom. The spectra of dimethylformamide‐, dimethylsulfoxide‐, and aquo‐complexes are compared.
