6‐Vinylfulvene II has been prepared (a) by the action of hydrochloric acid on 1‐hydroxymethyl‐ spiro ‐[2,4]‐hepta‐4,6‐diene (I), (b) by condensation of cyclopentadiene with acroleine at − 15° C using sodium ethylate as base.
