The «keto‐lactone» C 12 H 16 O 3 discovered by Naves & Grampoloff is not an impure preparation of methyljasmonate as advocated by E. Demole. The derivatives of this «keto‐lactone», i.e. the semicarbazone and dinitrophenylhydrazone, do not contain a methoxy group.
