The basicity of the adenin nucleus in the ATP complexes of Mg 2+ , Mn 2+ , Zn 2+ and Cu 2+ has been determined. Some possible interactions between metal ions and adenin nucleus are discussed. Coordinative binding between these two to any statically important extent can be excluded: the average distance between metal ion and adenin nucleus in these complexes is definitely greater than 5–6 Å.
