Stoffwechselprodukte von Actinomyceten. 35. Mitteilung. Über die Konstitution der Makrotetrolide Monactin, Dinactin und Trinactin

Three homologs, monactin C 41 H 66 O 12 , dinactin C 42 H 68 O 12 and trinactin C 43 H 70 O 12 , have been isolated from the mother liquors of the Streptomyces metabolite nonactin C 40 H 64 O 12 . These compounds are macrocyclic tetralactones («macrotetrolides») I of optically active nonactic and homononactic acids. The structure III (R = CH 3 , R ′ = H) determined for homononactic acid C 11 H 20 O 4 from spectral data and degradation experiments, shows a close relationship to the structure III (R = R′ = H) of the known nonactic acid C 10 H 18 O 4 .
