The complexes of the metal ions Mn 2+ , Co 2+ , Ni 2+ , Cu 2+ and Zn 2+ with ATP and some other ribotides are shown to lose protons at pH‐values, at which hydrolysis of complex bound metal ions normally does not occur. Evidence is given for the formation of H‐bridged association products between the ribose 2,3‐diol group and metal ion hydroxy‐complexes.
