Slices of guinea‐pig liver were incubated in the presence of glycine‐[2 14 ‐C] und glutamine. The distribution of radioactivity among the different carbon atoms of the isolated glutamine is consistent with the view that glycine is metabolized via serine and pyruvic acid. Direct conversion of serine to pyruvic acid in guinea‐pig liver is also shown to take place.
