The reaction of the yellow 1‐hydrazinophthalazine‐iron(I1) complexes with O 2 has been studied. As shown by pH measurements and reductometric titrations the red oxidised complex contains three ligand molecules, two of which have lost one electron. The high kinetic stability suggests dimerisation of the two radicals and thus formation of a 3‐dentate ligand with tetrazane structure.
