An authentic oil of lavender of French origin contains approximately 0,02% of (+)‐epoxy‐dihydro‐linalol and 0,05% of (−)‐epoxy‐dihydro‐caryophyllene. It is demonstrated by comparison of absolute of lavender and oil of lavender that the β‐caryophyllene contained in the latter is an artefact.
