The synthesis of the heptapeptide H · Met‐Glu(NH 2 )‐His‐Phe‐Arg‐Try‐Gly · OH (acetate) (VI) comprising the sequence of seven amino acid residues common to ACTH and α‐ and β‐MSH is described in detail. The compound shows a very weak MSH‐activity, no ACTH‐activity, but a very pronounced CRF‐activity (corticotropin releasing activity) in vitro .
