The reaction of cyanide ion with reduced 2‐amino‐6‐hydroxy‐pteridine yields 2‐amino‐6‐hydroxy‐dihydro‐pteridine‐8‐carboxamide. Evidence is presented that the hydrogens are in the 7 and 10 positions. They can be readily removed by a number of mild oxidizing agents.
