The solid addition compound (CH 3 ) 2 CO, TiCl 4 has been synthesized. The study of its vibrational infrared spectrum shows a characteristic lowering of the frequency ω = v (CO) in regard to that of acetone, viz. 87 cm −1 . There exists, therefore, a dative bond between the oxygen and titanium atoms.
