1‐Hydrazinophthalazine reacts with molecular oxygen in the presence of Fe 2+ to give a dimeric oxydation product with tetrazane structure, which forms a deep red coordination compound with Fe 2+ . The rate of the reaction depends on the concentration of a primarely formed Fe II ‐1‐Hydrazinophthalazine complex, which suggests autoxydation in the coordination sphere of Fe 2+ .
