The reaction of kojic acid 5‐mono‐ and α, 5‐diethers with hydrazine hydrate has been found to give the corresponding 1‐amino‐4‐pyridones, as well as one of the two possible pyrazole derivatives. This result was to be expected since, on etherification, the formation of the previously( 2 ) described pyridazones was prevented.
