The autoxidation of a formazyl compound has been found to be specifically catalised by Zn 2 +. Cu 2 +, Ni 2 +, Co 2 + and Cd 2 + have no such effect. The reaction presumably takes place in an intermediate mixed complex with O 2 . It is partially inhibited by cyanide.
