Vitamin K 1 and its analogues with 5, 10, 15, 25 and 30 C‐atoms in the side‐chain, and the isoprenologues of the vitamin K 2 series with side‐chains of 10 to 35 C‐atoms, have been tested comparatively as regards their reactivation effect on succinate‐cytochrome‐c reductase, inactivated by isooctane. This reactivation depends clearly on the length of the side‐chain, in the vitamin K 1 as well as in the vitamin K 2 series. In both series the most active substances are those with a side‐chain of 25 C‐ atoms. Shortening of the side‐chain is parallelled with a heavy decrease of the activity, while the analogues of the vitamins K 1 and K 2 with 30 or 35 C‐atoms in the side‐chain lose their activity only to a slight degree.
