The formation constants of the complexes HgCN+ and Hg(CN) 2 have been evaluated by combining potentiometric measurements carried out with a mercury electrode, a glass electrode and a platinum electrode responding to the redox potential Hg II /Hg I . For the complexes Hg(CN) 3 ‐ and Hg(CN) 4 2− the formation constants can be obtained by the usual pH‐method.
