Abstract Ultraviolet irradiation of Δ 1 ‐dehydro‐O‐acetyl‐testosterone (I) yields a mixture of ketonic and phenolic substances. Two of the phenols have been identified as 1‐methyl‐oestradiol‐17‐acetate (VIII) and 4‐methyl‐1‐hydroxy‐17 β‐acetoxy‐oestratriene‐(1,3,5:10) (X). A preliminary report is given on the nature of two additional phenolic products as well as of 4 ketones, isomeric with compound I.
