Ausgehend vorn α‐Iron wurde über die Zwischenprodukte I‐III ε‐2,2′‐Dimethyl‐carotin (IV) hergestellt. Die Verbindung stimmt mit dem früher beschriebenen ε 1 ‐Carotin im Absorptionsspektrum überein.
