To simplify the calculation of group theoretical features of vibrational spectra of molecules with the symmetry D 5d , tables and formulas have been given for a complete system of irreducible real representations and the complete system of irreducible characters. Furthermore the irreducible components of compositions of irreducible representations have been calculated, since the compositions represent the sym‐ metry of exited vibrational levels. Explicite formulas for the determination of the number of normal vibrations of each species, the symmetry types of the components of the electric dipole moment and the electric polarizability tensor are given. To correlate the vibrational spectra of D 5d molecules and their isotopic derivatives tables connecting the symmetry species of D 5d and the subgroups of D 5d are collected.
