The recovery of K, Rb, Sr, Ba and rare earth elements from stony meteorites for masspectrometric measurements is described. The purity necessary for this purpose is achieved by ion‐exchange chromatography on specially treated Dowex 50 resin, and by careful purification of all reagents used. Isotope dilution is used for checking the contamination. This is found to be smaller than the limit of detection of the masspectrometer.
