Seven hydrates of the ammonium lanthanon ethylenediamine‐tetraacetate complexes have been identified. The well crystallized octahydrates are isomorphous with the previously described sodium salts. Most of the other compounds form very thin needles and have a marked tendency to give supersaturated solutions. Owing to their different structure, the various species form only partly miscible mixed crystals. This fact greatly improves the separation of some of the lanthanons. A cyclic process is outlined by which a mixture of the cerit earths can be separated into two fractions, one containing more than 80% and the other only 25% La 2 O 3 .
