The preparation of dihydro‐γ‐ionone from dihydro‐α‐ionone is shown to give better yields via the 3‐chloro‐tetrahydroionyl‐acetate than via the 3‐chloro‐tetrahydro‐ionone. A new method of hydrolysis of semicarbazones of unstable ketones is described.
