The nitration of scopolamine under various conditions has been studied. The compounds derived from this nitration give perfectly well formed polarographic waves the height of which is directly proportional to the concentrations of the corresponding solutions. This allows the establishment of a standardization graphic. The behaviour of these nitrated derivatives at various pH has also been studied. There exist in equilibrium two tautomeric forms: the “nitro”‐ and the “aci”‐form; at pH = 12, after 12 hours, only one form (the “aci”‐form) subsists.
