Abstract Higher education in the United States is more diverse today because of dramatic shifts in the general population and increased attendance among adults. These trends will continue as more adults begin or return to college and as the Baby Boom Echo generation enters college. Whereas persons of color will become the new majority in several states, many states will remain mostly white.
