Excessive motor activity (hyperactivity) often causes management problems in people with dementia. We report a 63‐year‐old woman with a clinical diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease whose hyperactivity dramatically improved when she was given dexamphetamine. The improvement was maintained after the amphetamine was stopped. Assessment included the use of standardized direct observation.
