Single photon emission tomography (SPET) is a technique which allows simple non‐invasive measures of cerebral blood flow and indirectlymetabolism. It has considerablepotential as a tool for the differential diagnosis ofdementia. A review is presented tracing the development and current applications of the technique and the practical implications of its use.
