The pebble bed described is located in the Carboniferous Limestone at Llysfaen and, on the basis of the foraminifera, a middle S 2 age is suggested for it. The lithological character of the bed is described, a probable source for the pebbles is suggested and a shallow water environment is postulated for its locus of accumulation.
