Simulated common disease data have been analyzed to identify a model of disease expression that involves the complex interaction of quantitative traits controlled by major genes and an environmental factor. Correlation and multiple regression analyses in conjunction with quantitative sib‐pair linkage analyses revealed a portion of the model involved. © 1995 Wiley‐Liss, Inc.
