The new Eibsee cable car is being built on the highest construction site in Germany, the Zugspitze, to replace the old cable car from 1963. About 1,000 m 3 of rock had to be removed for the new mountain station. Altogether 1,200 m 3 of concrete, 500 t of steel and 330 t of reinforcement were used for the building. The new summit station is designed with a free‐standing area projecting 30 m. in order to secure and back‐anchor the foundation, DSI supplied numerous anchors of various types (see page 92).
